Featuring Superstorm Sandy at The Jersey Shore

Photographer David Turton has been capturing images of the Jersey Shore with his unique, artist’s eye for decades, and his photographs grace the homes of thousands of shore residents and visitors.

On the morning after Superstorm Sandy devastated much of the Jersey Shore, David headed out on foot and by boat to document the storm’s aftermath. In this book are presented David’s visionary images of the catastrophe in Coastal Monmouth County from Manasquan to Sea Bright. These original, never before published photographs preserve not only the aftereffects of the Superstorm in this region but also David’s personal journey through his beloved and now destroyed Jersey Shore.

The book includes the Monmouth County towns of Brielle, Manasquan, Sea Girt, Spring Lake, Belmar, Avon-by-the-Sea, Bradley Beach, Ocean Grove, Asbury Park, Deal, Long Branch, and Sea Bright.

His astonishing images, which include numerous two foot wide panoramas, will take you right upon the devastation of these coastal towns, and you will see the immediate consequences to these communities as never before.

Also included are a selection of David’s beautiful photographs from before and a year after the storm, allowing for “before and after” comparisons that bring a greater understanding of the disaster.

Rarely has there been a book that has documented in such detail the aftermath of a catastrophic storm. With more than 235 historic photographs, this important book records and preserves what happened to this region for future generations lest they forget the unfathomable power of the sea.
